WHAT IS SOUND HEALING

Sound healing is an ancient meditative practice that uses different musical implements to create healing vibrations around the body in a meditative state. Singing Bowl Therapists, for example, use Crystal bowls, Gongs and instruments tuned at strategic frequencies for healing different parts of the body and mind.

This method of sound healing is ancient and sacred in Tibet, where it was first used around the 12th century for meditation, healing, rituals, and ceremonial purposes.

Other types of Sound Therapy, like vibro-acoustic, guided meditation and neurological music therapy combine frequency and mindfulness therapy to treat conditions like anxiety and depression.

For thousands of years, sound has been used for healing in nearly every culture. Such as, the chanting mantras of the Hindus, the medicine songs and drum ceremonies of the Native Americans, the chanting of Tibetan Yogis, all use intervals and frequencies of sound, and are all sound healing techniques. Furthermore, these all can work to shift us from a state of unhealthy imbalance, to a state of healthful balance. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) advocated vocal toning to stimulate and tone the bodily organs.
